THE ENGINE ROOM
Established in July 2005 and situated on campus at Massey University Wellington (above the now defunct automotive engineering department’s mechanic’s pit), The Engine Room is a public gallery dedicated to providing an engaging and critical environment for the development and presentation of diverse and innovative contemporary art practices and arts based projects. Our programming at The Engine Room acknowledges our location within a Fine Arts school environment and works to achieve a balance between Massey University faculty, postgraduate students, emerging artists and more established practitioners.

THE LIGHTSHIP
The Lightship, a new site for contemporary art, has launched at Ports of Auckland. The large-scale digital light wall on Quay Street provides Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland with a unique place for public art to be enjoyed.
The Lightship is a 110-metre-long, 13-metre-high light wall that wraps around the western façade of the port’s new car handling building. It is made up of seven panels with nearly 8,500 individually programmable LED lights and is visible from busy Quay Street, city wharves, local buildings and the water.
THE MAYOR GALLERY
The Mayor Gallery was the first gallery to open its doors in Cork Street. Founded by Fred Mayor (1903-1973) in 1925, many artists exhibited for the first time in England at the Mayor Gallery and included, amongst others, Bacon, Calder, Ernst, Klee, Masson, Miro and Paolozzi. James Mayor, Fred’s son, took over the Gallery in 1973 and since then the Mayor Gallery has shown the work of many leading American artists. They include: Hesse, Lichtenstein, Martin, Oldenburg, Rauschenberg, Rosenquist, Ryman, Twombly, Warhol and Wesselmann.
